Moroccan Lounge, Los Angeles

The lovely STOMACH BOOK (Vivian Weeks), brought her raucously punk and infectious tunes to a very packed Moroccan Lounge Friday night.  Having just touched down to Los Angeles that evening, she brought the energy of someone stoked to get off a plane and ready to perform.  The audience reflected it back, screaming along the whole set.  After thanking us for coming out, she instructed us to β€œfucking murder each other” for her next song, β€œCasket Kids”, to which the crowd dutifully went nuts.  Besides that track, she also played more off of the same album, SOPHOMORE SLUMP CALLITHUMP, which she released just last year.  Hypnotically expressive hits like β€œanarchy!!!” and β€œDEVIL NOBODY”, bringing out collaborating artist zombAe for their feature on the latter.  According to STOMACH BOOK's bandcamp, using their music, they hope to β€œβ€¦provide a catharsis that makes us all feel a little less alone…”—a sweet description that I would consider accurate for the art they create and the audience it enthralls.  I know personally attending their show I felt like I was among friends.  Vivian's explosive talent is contagious, and she demonstrates a unique quality you must experience for yourself.
